diy idea | Hand Written Quote Mugs

This gal is so creative! What a perfect idea for Valentines day to add a handwritten quote from the well loved Pride & Prejudice to a mug? Or perhaps a favorite verse or quote that is special to you? How about a monogram or get really creative and draw birds and branches around the sides? The possibilities are really endless!

diy idea | No Sew Ruffle Tree Skirt

This is not the tree skirt project for the faint of heart...looks like a little patience is needed in making sooooo many ruffles but don't you think it's worth it?
So beautiful! I may even have to make one of these for myself. Ashley over at The Johnston's took on this great project and offers up a detailed tutorial here.
Let me know if you make one and how it goes! Best of luck!

diy idea | Flash Card Lampshade

Since I'm still on my lampshade kick I thougth I would share another easy to make lampshade idea. Didn't take step by step pics as usual but I'm sure you can get the idea.

You will need:
1 Round or drum type shape Lampshade
24 (or so) flash cards
24 (or so) Mini Clothespins...can be found at larger Joann Fabrics stores or online here.

So you could be all technical about it and measure the spacing around your lampshade but that's not me so I simlpy started clipping around the base first and then around the top, alternating as I went to my taste.

And here she is...super easy!!!

diy idea | 20 Minute Lampshade Redo

I think I have an addiction to lamp shades. No really, I have way too many! So when a customer recently bought the lampshade off of one of my lamps I went digging in my stash for a replacement. I found the perfect one but sadly it had some light streaks around it making it very unattractive.

Of course they is no way I would throw it out so I started looking around my stash of craft supplies for a solution. And then I saw it...a Sharpie! Yes indeed you read right, a good old fashioned black felt tip Sharpie marker.

Took a few practice runs on a piece of paper before committing my elementary school style cursive writing to the shade and then went to town repeating some bible quotes around and around and around until it looked the way I wanted.

The slanted pattern I used covered over most of the little flaws just prefectly! The style varied based on the amount of pressure I put on the pen while writing and the marker did bleed if I slowed down or stopped in one place. Either way I really like how it turned out and it took just a mere 15-20 minutes.

One shade down, many to go...
