Antique, Vintage, Handmade Shows - February

I've been lax in getting my antique, vintage and handmade show calendar updated but I've buckled down and have searched the web for some great shows for you to check out.

The first one starts this weeknd and is the Junk Salvation Vintage Flea Market! I have been a vendor at a number of these over the past few years and you won't be disappointed with the great variety of stuff you can find at this event. This time they are hitting Hillsboro, Oregon with a list of fabulous vendors. Check them out this weekend at their first Oregon show and I'm sure you will come home with a treasure or two. They even have a dollar off admission coupon at the top right hand side of their blog!

There's many more to be found in my calendar and I will update it as I find more. As always let me know if you know of any other shows I have missed and I will be happy to add it.

Happy Pickin!

Funky Junk Sisters Antique & Flea Market

Just when you thought I had totally abandoned my blog...I'm back! I had been devoting every spare moment to prepping for the Funky Junk Sisters Antique & Flea Market show but I've taken a couple days to recover from all the wonderful mayhem and now I've returned to share all the excitement!

Ok, so now onto the details...I was slightly nervous but super excited about doing this show and after many late nights of sanding, painting, pricing, wrapping, loading and more I arrived Friday the 12th for setup. After meeting the Funky Junk Sisters Dixie and Linda all fears went away and total excitement took over! Dixie and Linda are the bestest gals ever and know how to put on a great show! I am so bummed I didn't get more pictures but I will post some links to some other blogs throughout this post...stay tuned.

First off I have to show you my booth. Granted I'm still new at this but I am super excited at how it turned out. This is what it looked like before the long line of customers started browsing.

This set of 4 yellow wrought iron chairs were the first thing to go and then within the hour I sold my second set of burlap covered vintage chairs that I had stenciled black numbers onto...I so wish I could have captured a picture of those but I had only pulled out 2 of the 4 when the happy buyer swooped down on them and purchased them...maybe I'll get lucky and she'll see this post and send me a pic :0)There's a few things I wished I'd done better but once the customers started arriving it become just plain fun as people discovered fun treasures and I began to meet and talk with so many great folks...it was really a blast!
Of course as things sold it took on a different look as I continually scurried around filling in holes and rearranging to keep it looking fresh.
Sunday was a little slower then Saturday but it gave me a little time to regroup from the day before. Still had some great customers and people were more inclined to stand around and chat which was great.

I also was able to spend some time getting to know a number of the vendors which I had formally only known through blogs. Of course the Funky Junk Sisters were awesome and I can't wait to do another show with them! They even were kind enough to include a pic of me and my booth in their blog.

One of my neighbors was the super talented Patrica of Tippy Stockton she made amazing things out of old stuff like her amazing candle holders. Stop by her blog to see more pics of her fabulous booth and other creations! Two booths down was Today's Country Store and Susan Wheeler. They seemed to be having such a great time both days and I was continually curious about all the funny things being said as there was so much laughter coming from that direction...wish I'd been closer to hear what was so hilarious! ;0) They had some amazing stuff and it was great meeting Susan Wheeler and Kris as well as chatting with Amy some more!

Such a beautiful setup they had(I wish I had a place for those chairs!)...check out more here. You can also visit there store in Sumner, WA. Their were other great Sumner vendors there too.

So many other fabulous booths and great gals that I met! It couldn't have been more fun! Thanks again Funky Junk Sisters for all your hard work and commitment to making this a success. Here's to next years show...if not sooner!

I also have to send out a great thanks to my dear friend Charity who not only was a huge support to me but put in a number of hours setting up and even showed up for tear down at the end...you are awesome girl and I couldn't have done it without you!!! As well as my parents and brother and sis-in-law for all the support and helping hands during the preparation of this show...you are the best and I know I owe you!

If you missed out on the show this year be sure to keep an eye out for next years show which I'm sure will even be greater then this one...if that's even possible.

Now back to reality but with such wonderful memories and new friends!

Farm & Flea Market Weekend

A new dear friend of mine had invited me to join her this past weekend for the Skagit Valley Antique & Flea Market in Mount Vernon, WA. We had planned this a few weeks ahead and I was so excited to get away even if just for a night!!!

After a rough start with a dead car battery we hit the road and headed to my friends parents farm for the night. Ever since my trip to Spokane last spring I have been obsessed with wanting to move to a farm so needless to say I fell in love as soon as we pulled in the driveway!!!

The setting was so serene and what is that I hear? ...ya, that would be nothing!!!! Oh how I loved it!
I wish I had taken way more photos as the interior of the house was even more wonderful and a vintage lovers dream! Every nook and cranny was full of treasures and stories to be told.
My bedroom was on the upper floor and was oh so cozy with a comfy bed, vintage decor, painted wood floors, slanted ceilings and the quaintest view.

Can you spot those two lonely wrought iron chairs and the wood bridge...I just love it!

I could have just hung out at her parents (who I greatly enjoyed meeting and getting to know!) farm all day but we (my friend, her mother and I) didn't want to miss the good deals and headed off to the Antique & Flea Market.

It was a gorgeous day and just right for shopping. There were 7 or 8 barns to go through so we didn't waste anytime and started browsing. I had no idea what to expect but was not disappointed. Again, I wish I would have taken more photos, as well as more money and possibly a trailer. Between the three of us we packed my smaller SUV to the brim! Here are a few things I found:

I got a few other things and then of course my friend and her mom got some very cool things as well. There were barn loads more of items!!! There was even a booth that most everything was 25cents! I could have spent so much more and will be marking my calendar again for next year...in fact I can't wait!

Now I just have to decide what to keep and what to pass on...want to help me decide?

To kick off the calendar on April 3rd the Farm Chicks are having a book signing. Granted this may not be a bargain hunting event but it does involve the Farm Chicks so I had to include it!

April 4th & 5th is the Mount Vernon Antique, Craft & Flea Market at the Skagit Valley Fair Grounds. I'm most excited about this one as I actually get a chance to go! Woo hoo! Can't wait to see what great items await me and a new dear friend of mine on this outing. I hope to share more later.

Calendar of Antique/Vintage/Handmade Shows in the Pacific NW

There are so many wonderful antique, vintage and flea market shows going on in the NW this year that I decided to compile them all in one place and share them with you. I browse around often looking for events and shows so just this month I've run across the 4 Friends Sale featuring Queen of Tarte, Molly Mo, Aunties & Vintage Trifles on March 21st, also the same weekend March 19th - 21st is the Lynden Craft & Antique Show full of more than 100 vendors selling handcrafted gifts, home decor and vintage treasures, and last but not least is the Sand Point Antique & Design Market March 29th.

Of course there are the many weekly flea markets and local farmers markets that are always fun to attend. The garage sale, yard sale season is also fast approaching and Craigslist (if you are not in the greater Seattle area then you will need to change the location on the aforementioned link) is a great place to check for those. Don't check too early though as people seem to post at the last minute even up until late the night before.

So now to my calendar...here is an active example:
